On New Year’s Eve, Tucsonans can count on Sun Link to be the designated driver and provide a safe ride while they ring in the New Year at venues along the streetcar line. Sun Link will extend service hours on Monday, December 31 until 2 a.m. for those celebrating within the districts, including Main Gate Square, Fourth Avenue, Downtown Tucson, and Mercado District.
Streetcar service will run on a Sunday schedule on New Year’s Day, Tuesday, January 1 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. with service every 20 minutes. Regular Sun Link service hours will resume on Wednesday, January 2.
A 1-Day SunGO Ticket can be purchased for $4.50 at any one of the streetcar stops. Streetcar passengers are encouraged to plan ahead and purchase a SunGO 1-Day Ticket before New Year’s Eve to avoid lines at the streetcar stop ticket vending machines. Riders can purchase a SunGO Card online, at any sales outlet, or by downloading the GoTucson Transit App to load a pass or add cash value. If paying with cash value on a SunGO Card, the cost is $1.60. Each passenger is required to have a SunGO Card or Ticket, as cash is not accepted once on the streetcar. Children five years of age and younger can ride Sun Link free with a paying passenger.
